Mission
In partnership with hospitals, we are committed to working together as a region to meet the needs of pediatric patients and providers in Northern Michigan.

Who We Are

In June of 2001, a group of pediatricians, hospital administrators, ED staff and nurse managers in northern Michigan met in Gaylord, to listen, consult, communicate, and strategize a more efficient and safe way to transfer sick and injured children to regional centers.

There was a consensus among the attendees that we would form a cohesive group of northern Michigan providers to develop collegial relationships and determine common issues related to pediatric care.

Thus, the Northern Michigan Pediatric Coalition was formed and mission statement developed. Collectively, we represent 24 counties in the Northern Lower Peninsula and eastern portion of the Upper Peninsula.

In 2004, a partnership with Helen DeVos Children's Hospital was formed in order to streamline and formalize the transfer process of critically ill or injured children. Since then collaborative efforts have continued to enhance patient referral, availability of pediatric subspecialty care, provider education, and pediatric health care advocacy.

This coalition exists to help you, the provider of pediatric care. Its goal is assisting you in forming relationships, offering quality educational programs, and promoting advocacy policy with legislators that serve the northern Michigan region. The development of the Web site will enhance communication and pool resources for rapid distribution. Click on the Resources tab to link with various web sites related to pediatric issues.
