Developmental Assessment Clinics

Alpena
Multi-disciplinary clinic conducted four times per year, usually March, May, September, and December.

Free to residents of Alpena, Montmorency, and Alcona school districts. Insurances not billed.

Eligibility: Prematurity less than 36 weeks, perinatal complications or risk factors which could increase the likelihood of developmental delays. Target age is birth to age three. Visits last from one and a half to two hours with return visits scheduled. Home visits may also occur in conjunction with the clinic.

Driving Assessment Center

Offers driver education to disabled teenage students who are currently enrolled in the required classroom education at a state-licensed driving school. A physician referral is required for this program. The occupational therapist is a licensed driver educator who will evaluate and then progress each student through a structured program designed to meet the individual's needs. The program offers adaptive equipment training in a sedan.

Hemophilia/Bleeding Disorders Clinic

The Northern Regional Bleeding Disorders Center is co-managed by Deanna Mitchell, MD. The pediatric consultant is on site in Traverse City once a year, however, the clinic staff is available for visits five days per week and available for emergencies 24/7. This center is one of 9 in Michigan; all are well-connected for continual support for families and staff.

Referrals are taken all year, despite the clinic schedule. Call with mild disorders or diagnostic work-ups rather than waiting for a clinic. The clinic is multidisciplinary and is held at the Munson Specialty Clinics, 106 S. Madison Street. The clinic covers hemophilia A and B, VonWillebrands Disease, and any other inherited coagulopathy, such as FV, FVII, FXI, or FXIII deficiencies.

Free clinic for children’s immunizations (age 17 and under) with Medicaid or no insurance coverage. Held Saturday and Sunday 10 am - 6 pm and Monday 6 pm - 9 pm.

Dr. Jelsema is available twice a month on Wednesdays to see women for pre-conceptual counseling, genetic amniocentesis, Level II ultrasound, and management of high-risk pregnancies. The clinic is located in the lower level of the Munson's Memory and Attention Center, 5123 N. Royal Drive. Ages served are 0-14 years. Common diagnoses include but are not limited to: autism, ADD, ADHD, CP, and neurological and orthopedic disorders. Clinic offers specialized programs such as feeding issues, sensor motor disorders, splinting and casting, home assessments, and torticollis treatment. Pediatric Therapy Clinic

This is an outpatient therapy program designed for children who require the services of occupational therapy, speech therapy, or physical therapy. Children may be seen for one or all services. Therapists at the clinic have specialized training and a strong interest in pediatrics. They function as an interdisciplinary team to meet the needs of children and families served by the clinic. The clinic's strong ties to community agencies help to meet ongoing treatment needs and assists families with care planning. This clinic is located in the lower level of Munson's Memory & Attention Center, 5123 N. Royal Drive.

Specific areas of treatment offered include:
Sensorimotor Disorders, Feeding Issues, Augmentative Communication Clinic, Treatment of Torticollis, Equipment Recommendations and Modifications, Home Assessments, Splinting and Casting, and Cognitive Rehabilitation. Clinic hours are: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 6 pm.
